The first title in what became the Legacy Of Kain series. Its been a while since I followed up on this series of reviews, I found Blood Omen 2 to be a real chore to play, and really have not wanted to think about it. Previously reviewed Blood Omen, LoK 1, and LoK 2. Boasting an epic and nightmarish storyline, frequent full motion video sequences, solid voice acting, and addictive gameplay, Blood Omen became one of the best of the early PlayStation titles. Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 - Good lord, what a disaster. Several years pass, we move a couple of times, and one of these moves my mom decides to give away our PC games (because the boxes took up too much room? I don't know) and I never got to play it. Blood Omen is a game that I fear has been lost to time, or on the verge of it. Things started looking up, though, with the arrival of Silicon Knights and Crystal Dynamics’ darkly themed action RPG, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. The solution ended up being that I could keep the game but I'd have to wait until I was older before I got to play it. ![]() We got home and when my mom saw what I had bought she got really mad at my dad because she thought the game was too mature for me. For some reason they had a bunch of big box PC games for 10 SEK ($0.95 USD) each and one of the ones I picked up was Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. I was an NES and PC player growing up and when I was young, maybe seven or eight, I was at a surplus store with my dad. Two competing proposals for an initial Blood Omen sequel known as 'Kain 2' were cancelled in 1997. I have to share my brief story with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. The Legacy of Kain series has generated many cancelled and aborted projects, although the number is sometimes exaggerated by the inclusion of incomplete ports, precursors or related games. ![]()
